.....::::: CONTROLLING THE BEAST THAT IS OUR TONGUE :::::.....

Hmmmm...need I say more? I hate talking about personal issues but this hits me straight in the heart. I have done this to people that I love a couple of times in my life, thougj not on purpose. But that does not change the fact that what is done is done. Our tongues are wild animals waiting to be released. There is the power of LIFE and DEATH in the tongue. Use it wisely!!! No matter how SPIRITUAL we think we are, we could all control our speech more effectively. What you say and what don't say are both important. Proper speech is not only saying the right words at the right time, but it is also controlling your desire to say what you shouldn't. Examples of an untamed tongue include gossiping, putting others down, bragging, manipulating, false teaching, exaggerating, complaining, flattering, and lying. Before you speak, ask, "Is what I want to say true? Is it necessary? Is it kind?" Please let that sink in...
James 1:26 - "Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless."

.....::::: Anti-lie :::::.....

We have all done it at least once in our lives. We have lied to save ourselves or save someone we care about. But in reality, lying produces nothing positive. It was just a little white lie. Really? Is there such a thing? Some lies hold bigger consequences than others, but a lie is a lie. What about a half-truth? Well, isn't a half-truth really a lie? After all, you really don't know which half you are getting. Some people think that lying is OK as long as it doesn't hurt anyone or it is OK as long as it helps someone. This is the very trap of lying. People deceive themselves into only thinking about the moment and don't give much thought as to how that lie can snowball into a bigger problem. God does not like lying. So why should you? Strive to tell the truth. Please let that sink in...
Psalm 34:13 - "keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies."

.....::::: PARTIAL OBEDIENCE = NO OBEDIENCE :::::.....

He wants all of you! Giving God most of you is NOT good enough. Just because you pray sometimes, attend church and attempt to do what is right, does NOT mean it is enough for God. The reality is, God wants all of our lives, not just a part of it.
What does it mean to give God your all? It means to stop resisting and surrender because He knows best. As humans, we have the tendency to put things, people, relationships, and careers over God. When God says obey, He will not settle for partial obedience.
When you decide to give God your all, it requires surrendering every area of your life to Him. Even when it does not make sense. The crazy thing is that Every time I personally would let go of something, He usually gave it right back in abundance. Remember, obedience is better than sacrifice!
In the Bible, Abraham was preparing to sacrifice his one and only son. As soon as he prepares his son for sacrifice, God exclaims, “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” He said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son” (Genesis 22:12 NIV). God eventually blessed Abraham because of his obedience.
God is no different in our lives. You have to trust that God knows what is best for you. If something is not working in your life, give it up to Him. When you surrender and align your plans with His, it may hurt for a moment, but God will turn your sadness into joy and give you strength. He will give you more than your heart could have ever imagined!
Mark 12:30 - "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’"

.....::::: LET GO, LET GOD! :::::.....

Losing my parents at the age of 12 was truly the most heartbreaking thing that happened to me during my 22 years on this earth. Though it did change my life, it did that in more ways than one. It forced me to be less dependant. Yeah it caused me to grow up faster than most kids my age but it also enabled me to seize and hold onto God and not man. God can take that place in our life, fill that void, and heal that hurt. He can direct us, for those with the same situation, to those who may take the role of father and mother for us. His love is sufficient for all our needs. Our troubles should not diminish our faith. Our problems help us to remember Christ's suffering, keep us from pride, look beyond this brief life, prove our faith to others and give God the opportunity to demonstrate His power. Happiness is a plus. Note that God is not working to make us happy but to fulfill His Will. Let go of the things that hurt and let God heal you...let God guide you...let God give you your purpose in life.
Psalm 27:10 - "Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me." & 2 Corinthians 4:17 - "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all."

.....::::: SEEK GOD'S PRAISE AND NOT THAT OF THE WORLD :::::.....

We all have this problem or had this problem at one point in our lives. Where we sought man's praise rather than that of God. To Facebook, Twitter and even Instagram, we seek LIKES and VIEWS just for a sense of approval. But foolish is the man that seeks the attention of another! Seek the praises of God! In John 12:43, It speaks of receiving the praise of God and not of man. Most often as we go about our days, we may seek several likes on our social media page, hope to be retweeted on our status bars, or simply wishing friends and family would validate who we are. What is even worse, we also seek the praises from those we do not like, hoping for a "good job,” "you are the best" or "I appreciate you," but instead, we should seek the praises of our Heavenly Father.
So, how do we get the praises from God up above? Begin by seeking and implementing God’s will for our lives. Love doing what is right and follow His commandments. Let go of any idols you have placed above God. Knowing if we follow His will, we will not only have a fulfilled life, but we will obtain the praises of the Heavenly Father.
Start by listening to your heart, asking God how your life can be used to give Him praise. Cease to live a self-fulfilled life, and let God begin to use you for His purpose. Then you will begin to receive the praises of God. Ask God today to reveal to you how you can begin to receive His praises in your life. Please let that sink in...
John 12:43 - "for they loved human praise more than praise from God."

.....::::: PRAYER + PERSEVERANCE = BREAKTHROUGH :::::.....

Just because you see nothing doesn't mean God isn't up to something!!!
In 1 Kings 18:43-44, Elijah believed God would end the drought therefore, he continued to PRAY for rain. People probably thought he was crazy because he kept believing when it really looked like a dead situation. He trusted God would stay faithful to His promise! Persistence and Perseverance are essential! In this passage, we see that persistence and perseverance plus prayer caused a breakthrough. Elijah was not only persistent but he did not take “no” for an answer.
Many times in life we give up too easily...For example during a Doctor's appointment – when the doctor says “no,” when we have a bad day, an opportunity falls through or our kids are acting up. We must realize our prayers are providing a constant and powerful breakthrough! God sent Elijah a small sign – a cloud and soon after there was a heavy rain. Although you may not see it, God is forming small clouds on your behalf! Isn't that reassuring?!
If there is an area in your life you have given up; And you are just another touch away from victory, stand strong knowing God is forming clouds for you! Thank God in advance for the small victories in your life. You're welcome :)
1 Kings 18:43-44 “Go and look toward the sea,” he told his servant. And he went up and looked. “There is nothing there,” he said. Seven times Elijah said, “Go back.” The seventh time the servant reported, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.” So Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’ ”

.....::::: DID YOU KNOW? :::::.....

In the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I saw this and found it interesting...if you are a fan of the X-Men series, you will feel right at home.

Did you know that Magneto and Professor X were modeled after Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.?

The central ideological conflict between The X Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants is arguably “should we protect or punish those that hate us?” That conflict, as well as the characters of Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr, were all taken from the Civil Rights movement and the major figures behind it.

The basic foundation is the same: both MLK and Malcom X wanted the same thing (a nation where black people are accepted equal members of society) but were completely different in their approaches. While MLK spoke on the words of Ghandi and urged peace and integration, Malcom X believed hate for white Americans needed to be spread to counter the hate against the African Americans.

In the same model is Professor X and Magneto. Both wanted a world where mutants were accepted members of society living without fear of persecution. Charles Xavier believed the only way to live peacefully was to show that mutants are humans just like any others, and to resist violence because of its potential to widen the social gap between mutants and non mutants. Erik Lensherr, however, had no desire to be controlled by humans. He believed that the only way to gain acceptance was to fight human aggressors with a show of power. His main idea behind it was that there was no reason to suffer abuse when the power of mutants could put an immediate end to hatred directed against them.

.....::::: A PROSTITUTE NAMED RAHAB :::::.....

Shocking that I'd mention a prostitute right? Well Rahab was a prostitute in the city of Jericho. Being a prostitute, she lived on the edge of society, one stop short of rejection. Her house was built right into the city wall. It provided lodging and favors to travelers. It was a natural place for the Israelites to stay and be mistaken for her customers.
The Israelites were about to invade Jericho and this worried Rahab. Yes she was afraid but she turned to the Lord for salvation. Her faith gave her the courage to hide the Israelite spies. Though her position was not favorable, she took the risk.
God often uses people with simple faith to accomplish His great purpose, no matter what kind of past they have had  - like Rahab - whom we are inclined to reject. God remembers her because of her faith and not her profession. If you ever feel like a failure, remember that Rahab didn't allow her past to keep her from the new role God had for her. Think all the more He can do with you!!!
Joshua 2:1 - "Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. “Go, look over the land,” he said, “especially Jericho.” So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there."

.....::::: WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT? :::::.....

Have you ever asked yourself this question? I have an answer for that: EVERYTHING!!! Love has everthing to do with it. Paul wrote to the Corinthian church describing "What love is". Basically, if I can put it in today's terms, we may speak in tongues, english, spanish, creole, portugese, chinese, japanese or any other language in the name of Jesus Christ but if we don't have LOVE, we have nothing and it all means nothing. Even if we prophesize, have all knowledge, and abundant faith, its as good as ZERO if we lack LOVE. Do you love like Christ? Do you love your neighbor? We tend to forget that Jesus tells us to love our neighbors (Mark 12:31). People who love give! Do you give without thinking of yourself? John 3:16 explains it! He GAVE because He LOVES. Love is one of the foundations (if not THE foundation) of the Bible itself. So next time you ask yourself the question above, remember that it has EVERYTHING to do with it.
1 Corinthians 13:1-7 "If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

.....::::: I'M THINKING OF A MASTER PLAN :::::.....

Let's put this into context first! God did not forget His people, even though they were captive in Babylon. He planned to give them a new beginning with a new purpose - to turn them into a new people. In times of deep trouble, it may appear as though God has forgotten you. But God may be preparing you, as He did the people of Judah, for a new beginning with Him at the center.
It's encouraging to have a leader who points in the right direction, believes in us every step of the way and never leaves us. God is that kind of leader. Ask Him to lead you. Sometimes in life, we have an idea of how we want our lives to unfold, but God already knows what is in our future. Jeremiah 29:11-12 reminds us, God already has a plan for our lives. We simply need to ask Him to reveal it to us, get on board and trust Him to be our source and light! He knows the future, and His plans for us are good and full of hope. This does not mean that we will be spared pain but that God will see us through to a glorious conclusion.
Jeremiah 29:11-12 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you."

.....::::: FEARFULLY & WONDERFULLY MADE :::::.....

Often, I have had people come up to me and say that they don't feel beautiful, that they are fat or who would love someone like them? Let me tell you this...all that is the devil trying you to curse God's creation (you). Saying those things are an insult to God because it is written in the Scriptures that everything He made was good. You may even hear that you are too skinny, too poor, not smart or even not beautiful enough. You must recognize these voices are of the devil. But remember, God made you beautiful (Stated in Psalm 139:14). I too used to listen to these voices when I would find myself single. I wondered why I was single and blamed myself. and what is even worse, I started to believe them. Although God already had a plan for my life, a big plan beyond my thoughts. The devil knew if I believed the lies he had construed in my head, it would stop me from moving into the direction God already had for me. God knew my future and more importantly He deemed I would have success. Jeremiah 29:11 states, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Here is a piece of advice: When the devil tries to crush you with his words, fight back with God’s Word! “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (stated in Hebrews 4:12). When those voices come against you, you have to fight back with the Word of God. It is the most powerful weapon you will ever own. Therefore, it is important to memorize the Word and be able to recite it immediately. You may find yourself in situations where your Bible may not be accessible and in order to obtain success, you must quickly fight back with the Word. Make a commitment you will no longer allow the lies of the devil to linger. Declare God’s Word and you will win each and every time! Please let this sink in...!!!
Psalm 139:14 - "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."

.....::::: What is holding you back?! :::::.....

Forgive me for asking again...but just what is holding you back? For some it may be guilt, fear and most often, yourself. We have all done things for which we are ashamed, and we live in the tension of what we have been and what we want to be. But because of our hope in Jesus Christ, we can let go of past guilt and look forward to what God will help us become! To answer the question of "what is holding us back?", you must first know where you are headed and what is your goal. Speaking of goals, Paul says that his goal is to know Christ, to be like Christ, and to be all Christ has in mind for him. This goal absorbs all Paul's energy. This is a helpful example for us. We should not let anything take our eyes off our goal - knowing Christ. With the single-mindedness of an athlete in training, we must lay aside everything harmful and forsake anything that may distract us from being effective Christians.
Philippians 3:12-14 "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

.....::::: TRUE STORY :::::.....

Hey guys...for a while now, I could really relate to Psalm 84:11. So I decided to share it and a little testimony. I was in a situation (relationship) where the person I was with, who I believed was the one, left me. I was angry and confused. I'm alright now but I tell ya it was hard. I won't get into details but to sum it up, it just wasn't God's timing were her exact words. Maybe she was right maybe she was't. But at the end of the day what was done was done. And thats where it hit me...So often, we want to move at our own pace but fail to move at God’s. God makes it clear that whatever you desire of Him, if you keep your hope in Him, He will renew your strength. Believe me I needed it! Sometimes waiting on God can be challenging. We keep asking, “God when? God why? God, what are you doing with me? God, I don't quite understand it.”
No good thing will be withheld from you!
It is not for us to know when, why or even to understand His plans for our lives. It is more relevant to understand He loves us so much He will not leave or forsake us, as written in Hebrews 13:5. He even loves us so much that He will not hurt us and He only desires the best for us. He will not withhold anything good from us, as written in Psalm 84:11. Isn't this great to know?!
There is hope!!! If you find yourself waiting on God today, stand on His Word. He says there is hope in your future, as written in Jeremiah 31:17. Just hold on, knowing you will live a full life here on earth. Wait for Him and quietly place all your hope in the Lord, as written in Lamentations 3:26. In doing so, He will provide you with the strength to keep going and give you victory. Have a blessed day guys!!

.....::::: DO YOU PUT GOD FIRST? :::::.....

Forgive me for asking...but its just that I have seen so many people seeking God for the blessings and not the relationship. A lot preach about material prosperity but what about the sole blessing that is being with Jesus Christ? Do you put things before God Himself? In Haggai 1:5-6, Haggai encouraged the people to finish rebuilding the temple. Opposition from hostile neighbors caused them to feel discouraged and to neglect the temple, and thus neglect God. God asked His people how they could live in luxury when His house was in ruins. You have to understand that the temple was the focal point of Judah's relationship with God, but it was still demolished. Instead of rebuilding, the people put their energy into beautifying their own homes. However, the harder they worked for themselves, the less they had, because they ignored their spiritual lives. Same thing with us. If we put God first, He will provide for our deepest needs. If we put Him in any other place, all our efforts will be futile. Caring only for your physical needs while ignoring your relationship with God will lead to ruin! Please let that sink in....!!!!
Haggai 1:5-6 "Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.”

.....::::: DO YOU TRUST ME? :::::.....

This is a question that most, if not many, believers have already asked themselves. Myself included. This happened a couple of times where instead of just trusting God, I would try and fix certain situations on my own. But what that did was make the situation 10x worse. That is when I realized my weaknesses and limitations. So I turned to God and sought paths of effectiveness. Our weaknesses not only help develop Christian character; they also deepen our worship, because in admitting our weakness, we affirm God's strength.
Our troubles shouldn't diminish our faith or disillusion us. See your troubles as opportunities of worship!
We often feel like we can't trust anyone, not even God, when we have an important decision to make. But God knows what is best. He is a better judge of what we want than we are! We must trust Him completely in every choice we make. Please let that sink in...
Proverbs 3:5 - "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; [...]"

A Must See Film

This movie is about two Best friends; LC and Roland, who are are two young ministers, climbing the ranks at the First Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Ezekial Canon.
I found that one of the reviews for this film was interesting: "This movie tells the truth of many of our churches today. This movie should be a training film for all churches who are seeking a new pastor.
All churches do not have this problem, but many churches do and their problems are swept under the rug. I applaud Russ Parr in boldly opening up a discussion about drama in the church. Isaiah Washington does not disappoint as usual - his arrogance is true to form, representing many of the young ministers today who seek nothing but power, fame and fortune, at any cost. Sadly, today's young ministers seemingly have forgotten their mission should be preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and reaching the unsaved. Vanessa Bell Calloway's character represents the powerful voice that women should have in church today. In the black Baptist Church, women are ostracized regarding leadership capacities (Trustees and Deaconess). Vanessa was magnificent."
I recommend this film even though I am only 20 minutes into it! Stay blessed!!!

.....::::: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND FASTING :::::.....

Fasting can change your life! Yes! But know this, we cannot be saved by deeds of service without faith in Christ, but our faith lacks sincerity if it doesn't reach out to others. Fasting can be beneficial spiritually and physically, but at its best fasting helps only the person doing it. Don't get me me wrong, fasting is good! Great even but the Gospel is not just limited to that. Jesus did fast as well. The important thing you must ask is why? Jesus fasted to prepare Himself for His ministry that was to come. He led by example. An example we should follow. God says He wants our service to go BEYOND our own personal growth to acts of kindness, charity, justice, and generosity. What that means is that the Gospel has nothing to do with US but everything to do with Him! I laugh when certain people make the Gospel seem like it's about them and whatever what not. But that is false. True fasting is more than what we don't eat; it is pleasing God by applying His Word to our society. Please let that sink in...
Isaiah 58:6-12 “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. “If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.   Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings."
